this is a copy/paste from the article about great teachers that my mom is in!

"Linsey Miller, Richard H. Hungerford School
She was my first classroom teacher when I was a student in 1989. She was very brilliant in educating me how to become an excellent pupil by helping me with my motivation skills and developing my self-esteem. I had a lot of improvement from her allowing me to be able communicate on my own.
-Willie Washington, former student (and current colleague)"

more of a yoga bag sneak peak...
i REALLY like crystalizing. fyi.
ok, this is the last image i'll show you before the auction (in may)!
but save up $$$ and bid (please!)
it's for a good cause!!!!
...not the margot really likes to shop's the find a cure for breast cancer cause.

wordier than my usual post...but read it! :-)....a new earth...

So I’m reading A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle- 75% because Oprah told me to, 25% because I’m interested in stuff like that.
Ok, more like 90% Oprah, 10% me- but either way- I’m reading it!
And I have to say, it’s totally amazing amazing beyond amazing and I can’t praise it enough. NOT because it’s a thrilling page-turner read. It’s actually painfully boring (in my opinion) while you’re reading it. But within the words are these sentences that all of a sudden make me stop and think- think deeper than my usual thinking (which I’d like say is fairly deep) and I have what Oprah calls, an “AHA MOMENT”
Now for those for of you out there who don’t know- I adore Oprah. I know half of you are rolling your eyes and the other half have her tivo’d every day (as do I). But here’s the thing- Oprah gives back. BIG TIME. She also spreads literacy, which I respect a ton, and honors people who do good things, and so on and so on and so on. Plus she defines American culture. We eat hot dogs at ball games and we watch Oprah. End of story.
Well, not end….beginning perhaps….
I’m so inspired by one line in particular of the book right now that I’m going to start to do a series of collages “new earth” inspired (see the image at the top of this post)….here’s the line….

“This is when you strive to overcome limitation…through creative action bring something new into this world that is life-enhancing for yourself as well as others…you are present when what you are doing is not primarily a means to an end (money, prestige, winning) but fulfilling in itself, when there is joy and aliveness in what you do. And of course, you cannot be present unless you become friendly with the present moment.”

So, Oprah & Eckhart- if you’re out there reading (OMG- IMAGINE IF OPRAH READ MY BLOG) here I am! Trying trying TRYING to become friendly with the present moment…one collage at a time…

yoga bag auction!

soooooo, i'm realy really REALLY excited about this- Swarovski is doing an amazing charity event where celebrities are decorating yoga bags and they will be auctioned for breast cancer research sometime in may- AND I AM GETTING TO DECORATE ONE!
i know you're thinking- um, did i miss something?! when did margot become a celeb?!
i didn't. well not yet anyway.
i designed the blank yoga bag that the company i work for produced and donated to the cause so i get to design one (and plus, melissa works for swarovski and is running the event so that MIGHT have helped hehe)!
i'll post allllllll about the auction when it actually happens, but for now i thought i'd show you some work in progress!
i won't show the finished bag, all crystalized and such until the actual auction!

and mom (she's on a cruise right now!) if you are reading this- roses will be added! i promise!!! and look! even wonton is helping!

fyi, taylor NOW LIKES HOTDOGS. and trust me, after 7 (whoa, that's a lot!!) years of friendship that's a BIG deal!!!!! (specifically dash dogs, i believe with a pickle & crushed fritos and ketchup on it?!)
and in your honor, a wall of scrunchies!!!!!!!

i found this notebook last night, and am totally obsessed with it.
it's too bad i didn't have an editor then- melissa would have had a field day with this!

work in progress...

sooooo, i joined the red velvet kit club- click here to see the club-
which is basically an online community/forum where everyone is given the same supplies (once a month) and has to make something! lots of people scrapbook through it- i'm not a scrapbooker, but i am a collager (if that's a word?!)
anyway- so here is my work in progress- i'm making a blank journal for the online dater- cause those of you out there who have ever online dated know just how confusing it gets keeping them all straight and remembering the pros/cons and good/bad date locations, etc. etc. etc. - so i'm creating an artsy way to log it all! here is the start of a page (possibly the cover) created with the supplies i got in the mail today from the red velvet kit club!
i'll post the pages as i make them...
