This weekend is promising to be an exciting one. One of my besties, Caitlin, is having her bridal shower and bachelorette party, followed by Easter with Tristan's family and then a quick getaway to Atlantic City.  The best part about living far away from most of your friends, is that when they come to town for a big event you KNOW you're going to have a great time!

A Backpack Story

I really love when life things come full circle, so I thought it would be nice to share this.  By day, I am a children's accessory designer.  I primarily design bags, but I also make cold weather accessories, socks, umbrellas, water bottles and more.  I work mostly on licensed character products and have designed for everyone from Mickey Mouse to Justin Bieber.  

Back in the day,  I used to design a bit for the Smurfs, which was awesome to me because I used to draw them front of the TV as I watched on Saturday mornings.  I also spent my entire high school career saying that I wanted to work for Disney, and do design products for them now as well..... BUT nothing has been as exciting as designing for Lisa Frank! I mean, in so many ways Lisa Frank is the reason I can't control how much color I spill onto the page and why I really do adore a busy composition.  I see her influence all over my personal illustration work, and when I my company assigned me to design a backpack for her recently I was over the moon! It's a really amazing feeling to work on a property you loved as a child and it makes me truly grateful to have a job where I can be creative all day.

Once upon a time I had a BFF named Liz who had a beautiful baby girl named Olivia Violet and I flew to England for a long weekend to visit this adorable face...

Couldn't be happier for Liz & Chris!!!! So much love to you all :-)

New Orleans in Photos

Tristan and I took a weekend trip to New Orleans recently, and had a really amazing time. We ate and ate and ate and ate and listened to live music, bought a piece of art for a travel collection we've decided to start, toured and ate some more.  It was really fun, and I wanted to share some snaps I took along the way.  My favorite tour of all was the one at Mardi Gras World. It was really cool to see the floats in progress at different stages and their enormous warehouse filled to the brim with every float imaginable.  I have absolutely no desire to go to Mardi Gras, but I do really admire and appreciate the art that goes into it. This was a perfect way for us to see it.  This is a city we'll definitely return to at some point! Although not too soon, unless I plan on buying bigger size jeans.  ;-)
