holy snow!

nyc today...photos from my walk to work...
well, walk to the subway, and from the subway to my office...i don't actually walk to work but you know what i mean!




the schools are closed today, but my office isn't. was hoping for some quality time with this crazy cat today...
and if you follow me on twitter you should also follow her, @kellyripacat , she's very talkative these days. ;-)

le doily lampshade!

there was once a lampshade that was perfectly nice, but perfectly plain...

and there was once a gal named margot who had a history of doily loving and collecting...

...and her collection started to grow HUGE due to some very generous packages in the mail from some blogger friends (hi rachel), some trips to flea markets with her parents (hi mom & dad) and an amazing package filled with a great grandmother's collection (hi taylor)...
and then some of her blogger pals started a group called project restyle...

so she got to work sewing and cutting and measuring...



...and VOILA! a doily lampshade :-)



*i was inspired by many doily creations, including this gorgeous lamp! and this post! - and thanks miss denbow and miss katie cupcake for having a better memory than me!!)

i hope your weekend was filled with...

the sketchbook project!!!

as some of you know i'm participating in the sketchbook project (details here)
and as soooome of you know i've postponed actually working on it for um, like 7 months.
well the subject of mine happens to be "first thing in the morning, last thing at night" and oddly enough, because of the deadline- i started working first thing this morning and will work till last thing tonight.
here are some progress photos, and i will blog pages soon :-)




i'm excited to see where my book goes and can't wait to see it in the brooklyn museum!!
(and taylor, it does go to chicago!!!)
